Trautman Associates architects and engineers worked closely with the owners to help them realize their dream home. This 4,875 square foot house is sited on a 2.8 acre lot, complete with tennis courts, an entertainment patio, and beautiful seasonal gardens. The house itself was conceived with admiration for the arts and crafts style, with detailing that echos the palette and geometry of the natural surroundings. All interiors were custom designed to meet the owner’s desire for fully functional living spaces, both cozy enough for themselves and their children yet open enough for occasional entertaining. The hardiboard building envelope rests on a foundation crafted in local stone. Thoughtful consideration was given to the siting of the building footprint on the plot, that is located on the edge of a floodplain. The aperatures into the exterior lanscape truly capture the beauty of seasonal dwelling at this private residence in upstate New York.
