Trautman Associates is a finalist in the 2013 Brick By Brick awards for renovations to Clement Hall on the SUNY Buffalo campus. Winners to be announced Monday, June 10th.

Clement Hall is a nine story dormitory building on the State University of New York at Buffalo’s South Campus. Originally built in 1963, the building has had little renovation or updates since its construction.

General construction work consisted of complete replacement of all student room windows, storefront windows and entrances at first floor, all curtain wall systems at lounges and stairwells, interior renovations of all common areas, replacement and upgrade of the existing emergency generator, fire alarm system and HVAC systems, and the removal of the existing domestic hot water generation equipment, piping and storage tank and replacement with an instantaneous type domestic hot water generation system.

Trautman associates proposed additional site repair and improvements at the existing north and south entrances, including new surrounding landscaped areas and an automatic irrigation system. Terrace improvements included a new pre-grown, modular "live roof" type vegetation system, site furniture and site lighting. The improvements, designed to make the terrace a more inviting outdoor space for the students, additionally work to reduce the heat island effect and control and treat stormwater run-off.
