A first of its kind in Buffalo, the innovative Buffalo Ready Homes program focuses on infill housing as one of the most effective strategies to address regional housing needs. Across the city, vacant lots present a unique opportunity to strengthen existing neighborhoods, utilize established infrastructure, and increase available housing without expanding city footprints. By targeting these urban infill properties, the initiative streamlines the development process, making it significantly easier, faster, and more cost-effective to construct new residences on vacant city parcels.

At the core of this strategy is the creation of a pre-approved housing catalog. By designing fully compliant, standardized architectural plans ahead of time, Trautman Associates helps eliminate a significant layer of traditional municipal review and approval processes. This pre-approval framework saves future homeowners, non-profit developers, and residential builders valuable time and resources, reducing administrative overhead and accelerating project timelines from concept to construction.

Our architectural team is deeply engaged and has already begun work on a catalog of flexible designs tailored specifically to Buffalo's urban fabric. Each plan is carefully crafted to match the scale, massing, proportions, and architectural detailing characteristic of our classic Buffalo neighborhoods. From front porch traditions to traditional rooflines and exterior finishes, these designs ensure that new construction seamlessly integrates into established streetscapes while offering modern, efficient layout options inside.

It’s an exciting step forward for local housing access and neighborhood revitalization. The design phase kicks off in Winter 2027, with a full program launch expected in mid-2027.
