The Museum of Science was seeking to create a gallery to present rotating program themes, reflect current science topics and provide an ever-changing environment for lifelong learning. In addition to the main Gallery, Connections features a learning and research laboratory wing. This space is known as the Inquiry Lab and is equipped with higher-end science equipment that allows for more comprehensive exploration.
Trautman Associates was instrumental in working with the exhibition designer to provide a clean “canvas” infrastructure for the Connections Gallery taking into account the philosophy and intent of the Connections concept in terms of ambient and track lighting, flexible space divisions, and material selections for floors, walls & ceilings. Natural day lighting was introduced into the space with a return to the original banks of windows. The ceiling was designed to work as an unobtrusive backdrop to showcase the new mechanical and electrical systems as an integral part of the exhibit space.
Complete architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services were provided for this project.
