The Maritime Charter School owns the building that houses its Middle School located on Buffum Street in South Buffalo, New York, and is currently leasing space for its High School in the City of Buffalo. That lease is set to expire and the School is planning to relocate its High School to its Middle School location. This relocation requires the addition of an academic wing and a gymnasium to accommodate the additional high school population.

Trautman Associates is providing architectural design services for these projects, which are being planned in two phases following the initial phase completed by the Owner.

  • Phase 2 includes design for a 25,250 SF addition to the existing Middle School to house a gymnasium. This space will house three AAU-regulated basketball courts, locker rooms, and cardio mezzanine.
  • Phase 3 will feature the addition of a new three-story academic wing that will house 31 classrooms, a library/computer space, lecture hall, workout room, and makers’ space. This new wing is expected to add 61,950 SF of academic space to the campus.

Site work for the modified campus includes the reconfiguration of the existing parking lot, the addition of a second lot, and accommodations for emergency vehicle access to the campus.

As of 2021, the project is currently on hold.
