Trautman Associates provided design services for mechanical upgrades to the County Toxicology and Pathology laboratories.
Work included design for replacement of the existing air handling unit, lighting, ceiling, and ductwork in the instrumentation laboratory. Asbestos abatement was required for the fire proofing on the existing steel structure and the tile mastic found on the second floor. New fireproofing was applied to the existing structure and temporary medical gas piping and tanks were provided to serve instruments being located under this project.
The existing second floor lab space was converted to a mechanical room to house a new custom air handler unit to serve the entire lab, including instrumentation space. Infill was used in the existing piping penetrations from the floor of the second floor lab space through the first floor ceiling space to maintain the fire rating for the new mechanical room. A custom air handler, new floor penetrations, ductwork, hot water, steam, and condensate piping were also installed.
