Trautman Associates is currently re-designing the Villa Maria College library to serve as a campus hub and social destination. The scope calls for both dedicated and impromptu spaces for collaborative learning by groups of various size, and improvements to portions of the library to provide space for focused individual learning.

Our proposed concept is organized to encourage interaction between librarians and students. A new shelving design and circulation pattern improves access to the growing multi-media collection and well-used portions of the print collections, while also creating space within the library for computer terminals, digital infrastructure, and quiet study. Additions to overall security and visual control over various library functions are seamlessly integrated into the design, including dedicated office space, storage space, and open workspace for the library staff.
