Trautman Associates was selected to design a state-of-the-art library and research facility for Sacred Heart Academy, an independent, private Catholic day school for young women, grades 9–12. Upgrades to the Library Media Center include wireless, high-speed Internet access for up to 40 laptop computers and a collection of over 6,000 books, 35 journals, and 20 databases.
The library is comprised of three rooms - a reading room designed to provide a relaxed, comfortable setting; a study room with tables that can accommodate group discussion, projects, and individual study; and a video conferencing / distance learning lab equipped with cameras, and an interactive white board. Each of the rooms has a folding-type door with laminated glass, providing a sense of open space, while reducing noise and allowing natural daylight to filter throughout the interior.
