The work on the Grover L. Priess Elementary School included a new roof, new canopies, roofing and mechanical roof fans, roof drains and piping.
The existing roof was a single-ply Sarnafil roof that had become brittle with age and needed replacement. Trautman Associates completed a survey on the roof to determine where the existing insulation had become saturated. This information helped determine if any part of the existing roof insulation could be reused. The survey revealed minor areas of wet insulation with the majority of insulation in acceptable condition for reuse.
The existing insulation was supplemented to bring the R value to R24. Additional tapered insulation was installed to ensure positive drainage. The Eden School District is transitioning all of its buildings to a built-up roof system. We installed a 3-ply SBS modified cold applied roof with reflective aluminum paint.
