Trautman Associates designed an “urban in-fill” expansion/renovation that more than doubled the living space on this City site.

To accommodate the needs of their declining and aging population, the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur needed to consolidate living quarters from several locations onto their existing property, the St. Mary Center on Lafayette Avenue in Buffalo. This relocation effort required the removal of a failing structure sandwiched between the existing convent and chapel, construction of a new addition, and renovations to the existing convent. The addition design continues the scale and finishes which mark the original convent residence.

This project included:

  • 9 new assisted living suites
  • 9 new independent living bedrooms
  • 2 community rooms
  • an art room
  • a wellness suite for physical therapy, med-prep, and doctor visits
  • 13 renovated living spaces

Trautman Associates worked collaboratively with a varied group of stakeholders to ensure this investment meets the needs of residents as they transition from independent to dependent living and serves the Order for many years to come.
