Trautman Associates has provided professional A/E design services for nearly a dozen projects for Trocaire College over the past decade. In 2019, Trautman Associates was selected to help Trocaire transform the second floor of its Transit Road location to house its new Technology Institute. Trocaire envisioned an atmosphere that reflected the high tech nature of their new academic programs in cyber security and data analytics.

The transformation begins in the first-floor stairwell with a feature wall that introduces a textured, dimensional hexagonal theme. New signage, backlit with red LED lights, creates a gateway that clearly announces that you have arrived in the new technology space. Using the college’s colors of red accented with black and white, the theme continues throughout the second floor.

The new spaces and central corridor received new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, including new casework and furniture. New finishes and design features were developed alongside FF&E and graphics consultants. Finishes and design features including wall graphics and signage were selected to marry the spaces along with ceiling features and dimmable LED lighting throughout. Classrooms, meeting spaces, faculty offices, and the server room were updated. Student and faculty “sandboxes” were created to encourage group collaboration and existing toilet rooms were renovated, creating new gender-neutral toilet rooms.

Maintaining a continual dialogue with the Owner throughout the process made it possible to meet all programmatic needs and more, while staying under budget.
